Mr. Akoglu has more than twenty years of experience representing automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in product-liability matters across the United States, serving as national, regional, and local counsel. His experience includes defending crashworthiness claims involving passive and active safety systems, asbestos and class-action litigation, enforcement actions, and advising on product safety, emerging technologies, privacy and data security, information governance, and electronic discovery.
He also advises clients in the transportation, ready-to-eat consumer packaged goods, and student-exchange sectors on commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
Previously, Mr. Akoglu was a partner at Herzfeld & Rubin and a member of its automotive product-liability practice group, which served as national counsel to a European OEM for more than sixty years.
Mr. Akoglu graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where he studied with Prof. Aaron Twerski, co-reporter for the Restatement (Third) of Torts: Products Liability, and Prof. Anthony J. Sebok, for whom he served as a research assistant. He holds an M.A. in German Literature and a B.A. in International Relations and German Literature from Tufts University.
Mr. Akoglu is fluent in German and Turkish.
